Carnival in Panamá - Feb. 18-21
Carnival is a moveable feast which takes place between the months of February and March. In Panama is a great celebration. We live it with greater force in the capital, in the Azuero Peninsula and in the province of Coclé.
The celebrations in the capital is accomplished with a series of artistic performances in different places of entertainment such as nightclubs and discotheques. It also organizes a popular celebration on the Via España (Spain Way), where local media invited great figures of tropical music, such as Gilberto Santa Rosa and Sergio Vargas.
Among its most significant features are the groups and mojaderas (wetting).
In Las Tablas (Los Santos province) is the area of the country where most people celebrate the feast of king momo. Its "Up and Down" streets invest almost half a million dollars at this party.
Colecting funds to carry out activities for a year. There are families that have taken up to eight queens in several of the streets.
In Penonomé and Aguadulce (Coclé province) there is also a popular Carnival, cheerful and street. At the spa The Mendozas of Penonomé there is a parade of ponds, each representing a comparsa and is presided over by a queen.
In the city Chitré (Herrera), Santiago de Veraguas, Dolega and Las Lajas (Chiriqui); La Pintada of Cocle and Colon also organizes a carnival but with less public.
